Mandau is the traditional weapon of the Dayak people of Borneo. It is also known as Parang ilang.
In older times it was used as a head-hunter knife. The Mandau is nowadays mostly ceremonial.
This type of Mandau on auction was given to important people of the Tribe and used in ceremonies
Attention: Due to age and use some bone elements are damaged.
Scabbard/sheath/handle: Wood, antler, or bone fittings, hair, beads, and ornaments.
Height: 90 cm
Attention: before bidding be sure your custom officer allows an entree of antique and or tribal arms.
