2020 Chateau Mouton Rothschild - Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classé - 1 Botella (0,75 L)

The elegance and aromatic finesse of an exceptional Pauillac Premier Cru Classé The property It was in 1853 that Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild acquired Château Brane-Mouton at auction. The property, located in the heart of the Médoc, in Pauillac, was then renamed Château Mouton Rothschild. In 1922, Baron Philippe de Rothschild took over the reins of the property. A visionary, he decided to initiate in 1924 the integral bottling at the castle while entrusting the illustration of the vintage label to an artist. Every year since 1945, the label of Château Mouton Rothschild is illustrated by the original work of a great contemporary artist. Dalí, César, Miró, Chagall, Warhol, Soulages, Bacon, Balthus, Tàpies, Koons, Doig... an exciting collection that grows every year with a new work and which constitutes the famous exhibition "Art and the Label". Emblem of the Pauillac appellation, this Premier Cru Classé makes the great wines of Bordeaux shine around the world. Today, it is the three children of Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, Camille and Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild who preside over the destiny of Château Mouton Rothschild. The vineyard Château Mouton Rothschild is a wine from Pauillac from an 82-hectare vineyard located northwest of Bordeaux, in the Médoc. The vines, 50 years old on average, are planted on gravel stony soils that make it possible to capture heat and restore it at night, thus favoring the maturation of the grapes. These draining soils rest on a clay-gravel subsoil, giving the wines of Château Mouton Rothschild a singular power, elegance and tannic structure. The wine Made by the British artist of Scottish origin Peter Doig, the label of Château Mouton Rothschild 2020 is similar to a personal reverie about the nocturnal birth of a great wine, whose enchanting air of a guitar would awaken to life. Landscape of dream, this work celebrates both the cultivation of grapes and the workers of vineyards and fields, as previously represented by illustrious artists such as Millet, Van Gogh or Bacon. The vintage A very mild winter and the beginning of spring promote an early outburning of the vine. The passage of a snowy front at the end of March does not impact the vineyards. Marked by temperatures above seasonal normals, spring is punctuated by abundant rainfall, especially at the beginning of May. From mid-May, hot and dry anticyclonic conditions significantly accelerate the vegetative cycle, with flowering 12 days ahead of its usual cycle. If the month of June is contrasted, the month of July is marked by heat waves and a strong drought. The few rainy episodes of August activate the veraison and a uniform development of the bays. Historically early, the 2020 harvest allows the harvest of grapes at full maturity and in a perfect health condition. Despite lower yields than in the last vintages, the quality is exceptional with fresh, balanced and dense wines, revealing powerful tannins and beautiful finesse. Assembly Cabernet sauvignon (84%) Merlot (13%) Cabernet franc (2%) Petit verdot (1%).
