An beautiful "Tourangelle" coiffe" ( kapje or headdress) with superb embroidery.
This is a round headdress, richly embroidered with flowers and foliage
and going back to the mid 19th Century.
It is in white lawn.
The front of the headdress is lined with black fabric between the lawn and the linin to give the headdress
extra strength.
The face circumference is in piped tulle and starched.
The embroidery is magnificent with very important relief for all the flowers.
Additions of Valenciennes lace.
The seams are not damaged or undone.
These are the stitching points which are clearly visible.
In good condition.
The ribbon on the back is not original.
PLEASE NOTE:
there are traces of rust spots on the voile, tulle at the top, and close to the front.
See last photos..
These spots can be removed with anti rust liquid from Dr.Beckmann.
P.S. THERE WILL BE AN REFUND ON THE POSTAGE AS THE HEADDRESS IS VERY LIGHT IN WEIGHT..
