Emile Charles Lambinet (1815-1877) - Fishing at sunset

Here we have a fabulous 19th Century oil on oak panel by French Artist Emile Charles Lambinet 1815-1877. The painting features fishing boats on a river at sunset. A beautiful piece of art that would complement any serious art collection. Emile Charles Lambinet (France 1815 – 1877) is often referred to as one of the members of the Barbizon school. What is strange about this is that he never actually painted in the area surrounding the Forest of Fontainebleau or the village of Barbizon. The reason he is so often associated with this school seems to be because the manner in which he approached rural subjects and landscapes was very much in the same style as the successful Barbizon artists of the day. His style of painting seemed to appeal very much to the same critics and collectors who supported the art of the Barbizon school. He was a landscape painter of rural scenes, Emile Lambinet painted extensively in his native France and also traveled throughout other countries in Europe and in the Middle East. He studied with Antoine-Felix Boisselier, Michel-Martin Drolling, Jean-Baptiste Corot and Horace Vernet. Beginning 1833, he was also an active exhibitor at the Paris Salon. In fairly good condition for its age. Comes with a later dark wood frame. Please view the photographs as part of the description. The frame is a gift if damaged in transit no compensation given. Postage via UPS or DHL. Please note that European buyers there are fees to be paid before delivery. Will be wrapped with due care and attention
