Other brand - Japanese Vintage & Beautiful Kimono Belt 袋帯 FUKURO OBI / Small Cranes & Butterflies & Flowers - Obi

Fine designed Fukuro Obi 袋帯 for Kimono - Japan - Showa/Heisei period Fukuro Obi is the formal belt for Kimono worn like at some ceremonies. It is mainly made of silk, used gorgeous yarn. “Obi” is a wide sash that is wrapped around the waist from the top of the kimono and also it serves as a decoration. Obi is a long decorative sash to hold kimono in place and upgrades kimono itself. Recently, many Japanese people don’t wear traditional Kimono frequently, so some use beautiful obi belts as decorations in their rooms or as fabric for clothing etc. “Fukuro obi” is commonly used for formal kimono, such as “tomesode”, “houmongi”, and “furisode”. Since it is often used for festive events, it is tied into “niju taiko” or a double-layer knot in hope of more happiness. For “furisode”, “fukuro obi” is tied with a decorative knot called “kawari musubi”. It looks gorgeous. “Fukuro obi” with simple patterns and without gold and silver is used for casual daily kimono. The main motif of this obi is the crane. Cranes are considered auspicious symbols of longevity in Japan, much like turtles, because they have long lifespans among birds (approximately 20-30 years). They are also known as birds that have good relationships with their partners and mate for life, symbolizing marital harmony. Additionally, because their calls resonate well and can be heard from afar, they are also considered auspicious birds that "reach the heavens" or "connect to the celestial realm." Size: 1.
