A very nicely carved white jade (untested) figure of the bodhisattva Guanyin, dating from the 19th century.
The bodhisattva is depicted sitting in the 'Royal ease pose' on a lotus throne, holding a bottle while pouring water. One of the Eight Symbols of Good Fortune. Contains pure water capable of relieving suffering. Her hair tight in a high chignon and her white robes falling loosely.
Provenance: From a private Norwegian collection formed in the 1960's/70's.
Condition:
In perfect condition. No damage, only minor wear at the base.
