Chupícuaro, México Terracota Figura bonita femenina. Muy raro. 13,5 cm H. Con licencia de Exportación Española.

Female Pretty Figure - very nice - CULTURE: Chupícuaro, México PERIOD: 100 BC MATERIAL: Terracotta and pigments DIMENSIONS: Height 13,5 cm. CONDITION: Good condition. Provenance: Private collection of an important art dealer, Mr. I. L., Barcelona, 1929 - 2022. Thence by descent. Gallery owner of modern and contemporary art, he collected a large group of pieces from the main cultures of pre-Hispanic America. He has held several exhibitions in museums and institutions. Documents: With Spanish Export license. The tradition of Chupícuaro figurines is characterized by its fine modeling and especially by its enigmatic faces in which the eyes were stylized, present as large slits that give it a Chinese appearance. In the case of the one we are dealing with, she is female like the vast majority of this typology, and she has her arms placed under her chest. The hair is collected adorned with a horizontal band. The lower limbs are slightly defined. The Chupícuaro archaeological zone is located on the hills near the Lerma River, currently under the waters of the Solís Dam, in the current Mexican state of Guanajuato. Little is known about this settlement due to the scarcity of archaeological remains, but it did stand out for being a great pottery center, probably one of the best in Mesoamerica, which produced ceramics with a fine finish and multiple shapes and colors, predominating decorations with geometric motifs. The motifs were deities, motherhood, lactation, people and their ornaments, animals and plants. By studying the styles of ceramics, the type of clothing they wore, the body and facial paint that they applied, as well as various other ornaments such as necklaces, earmuffs, nose rings or earrings, are inferred. Notes: - The piece includes authenticity certificate. - The piece includes Spanish Export License (Passport for European Union). NOT TAXES. - According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union are subject to export taxes and will be added to the invoice, at the buyer's expense. These export fees are fixed on the final auction price and the tax rate is not applied directly on the total value of the item to be exported, but rather the different percentages by sections are applied to it: - Up to 6,000 euros: 5%. This export permit application process can take between 1-2 months maximum. - The seller guarantees that he acquired this piece according to all national and international laws related to the ownership of cultural property.
