Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya Region, ca. 300 to 500 A.D. A gorgeous celt, skillfully carved and string cut from a beautiful piece of grey stone. The form depicts a schematic antropomorphic figure with hands meeting across the chest and open feet above the celt-shaped blade below. The head with headband decorated with incised chevrons; the face with drilled eyes, wide nose and thin mouth. Centrally drilled on the uppert area for attachment or suspension. The reverse has a slight ridge from hewing out of a larger rock and / or carving. Dimensions: 13,20 cm. Condition: Small surface wear. Excellent condition.
