Following in his father, Hiroshi Yoshida's footsteps Toshi produced many woodblock prints portraying natural scenes. While his niche was traditionally animals, occasionally he would produce landscape works, like the one seen here, like his father. Two boats are sailing down Tenryu (Heavenly Dragon) river, capturing the simplicity of rural life in Japan. Rocks and pebbles on the shore are rendered in a variety of colours, creating a beautiful and balanced contrast with the hills in the background.
