Producer and exporter of Port Wines, DOC Douro and DOC Moscatel do Douro Wines, of high quality and prestige, highlights not only the results of expansion and modernization over the years but also the preservation of ancestral wisdom from the ground up familiar. WINEMAKERS: Fátima Lopes, César Pinacho & Miguel Martins. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 92 pontos Roy Hersh Silver Medal International Wine & Spirit Competition WINE VARIETIES: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca & Tinto Cão. VINIFICATION Grapes are harvested manually into small boxes; Coming from a single harvest, their vinification is carried out according to the traditional Port Wine method. After partial stemming, the grapes are crushed in stone presses using foot treading. The fermentation of the must takes place under controlled temperature and is interrupted by the addition of brandy. This wine, as it is produced, has great aging potential. Aging in large wooden vats, can be bottled between the 2nd and 3rd year. As long as it is stored in ideal conditions, it has the potential to age in the bottle for over 30 years. TASTING NOTES Black color with purple border. Dark fruits and berries on the nose. Fruits and berries on the palate. Modern style with soft tannins. CELLARING The bottle must be kept lying down at a constant temperature and protected from intense light. Over the years in the bottle, wines create natural deposits and therefore need to be carefully opened and decanted before being served. The bottle once opened must be consumed immediately. SERVING It can be consumed now if you appreciate the power of the fruit, but with enormous potential for aging in the bottle. It goes very well with strong cheeses, such as our Queijos da Serra and Azeitão, Stilton, Roquefort, Danish Blue. Also, after the meal, with sweets and chocolates as well as cigars. Unfiltered wine. Once opened, it must be consumed on the same day, like any great aging wine. After decanting, the wine will open and reach its peak and then gradually lose its freshness, significantly altering the tasting notes. It should be consumed between 14º C and 16º C.
