Beautiful large painting by Philip Mendoza, first published in the comic Once Upon a Time #55 in 1970. Philip Mendoza painted in a very distinctive style creating depth and also lovely detailed ares. As well as strips and adaptations of stories such as Alice in Wonderland and Wind in the Willows for nursery comics, Mendoza also worked for Sun, Comet, Cowboy comics library, Super Detective Library as well as Thriller Comics Library. This is a really great painting on thick board, capturing the emotion and innocence of these stories. Very few of the boards from this story have ever been offered for sale as they have remained in a private collection since publication.
