Founded in 1842 in Etikhove (East Flanders, Belgium) by Camille Thienpont, the family wine business developed rapidly in Belgium and established itself in Bordeaux at the beginning of the 20th century with the acquisition, in 1924, of Vieux Château Certan, also in the Pomerol appellation and bought Château Le Pin in 1979. A beautifully made, dark ruby/garnet/plum-colored wine, the full-bodied 1998 Le Pin offers an exotic bouquet of coconut, kirsch, and jammy blackberries, all flamboyantly dosed with smoky new oak.
