Old album with 50 vintage Japanese photographs, illuminated by hand, mounted on paper. 8th oblong, maki-e covers, oriental customs scene in the front plane; insects (scuffs) on the back.

The artists working in Yokohama mood were able to color photographic prints by hand, meticulously applying paint to the tiniest of surfaces in order to accurately convey the richness of the environments they captured. The results of this highly disciplined practice were exquisite hand-colored albumen prints virtually indistinguishable from actual color photography.Perfect in colors and definitions, the subjects are rare.
