Kimono - Seda - Japón

Authentic Hand-woven, Mud-dyed Amami Oshima Tsumugi 奄美大島紬 with certificate. Amami Oshima Tsumugi is known as the queen of kimonos, a highest grade silk fabric and a one of the status symbols. It is a traditional Japanese craft with a history of about 1,300 years. Only products that have passed the strictest inspection in the kimono industry are given the certificate. Oshima Tsumugi has been recognized as a national traditional craft since 1980 by the Japanese government. One of the unique process in making Ooshima Tsumugi is mud dyeing that is done only in Amami Oshima island all over the world. By repeatedly dyeing the kimono with mud and Sharimbai (a plant of the rose family) over 80times, it is dyed a deep, lustrous, sophisticated black or brown color that does not fade. This strong and soft kimono, born from the unique combination of three properties of animal origin-silk, plant based-Sharimbai, and mineral-mud, can be passed down for three generations. Another great joy about Oshima Tsumugi is the intricate and precise ikat patterns. The beauty of hand-waved fabrics that are said to be the finest ikat patterns in the world. Weavers can only weave at most 30cm a day and takes more two months to make one roll of Ooshima Tsumugi. Depending on the weaving method, the ikat of Oshima Tsumugi can be shaped like a windmill or like a T, etc. The windmill type requires more thread and skill, which makes it more expensive, and so its production is falling off now. A perfect item for kimono collectors. Manufacturer: 牧一義 Maki Kazuyoshi Good conditions with basting threads, some light stains for its age. Length 153cm Sleeve and Shoulder 62cm (Please see photo with full measurements) Tracked shipping from Italy (Poste Italiane, BRT, UPS or DHL) ※ For non-mainland destinations including islands and overseas territories, additional charges may apply but will not exceed the Rest of the World shipping cost. Grazie mille!
