The Dioscuri group on the reverse is copied from a statuary group, dating from the 5th century, which was perhaps placed in the sanctuary dedicated to the Dioscuri north of Lacus Juturnae in the forum. The type of the Dioscuri will be adopted under the empire by Maxentius.
