Artist Sergey Timofeevich Kravchenko's "Before the Storming of the City" embodies Soviet Socialist Realism, depicting scenes from the Russian Revolution. The painting depicts the preparation of the Red Army division head Shchors and his deputy commander Bozhenko for the military seizure of the city. Kravchenko S.T. (1914 - 2001) graduated from the Kiev Art Institute in Samarkand in 1942. His teacher was K. Trokhimenko. He specialized in easel painting and book graphics and participated in republican exhibitions since 1946. Notable works include "Grigory Kotovsky," "Alexander Parkhomenko" (1947), illustrations for M. Gorky's "In People" (1950), O. Voinov's "The Story about General Vatutin" (1958), Y. Zbanatsky's "Crimson Ringing" (1960), A. Golovin's "Deep Raid" (1966), among others. He lived and worked in Kiev. Shchors N.A. was a wartime officer of the Russian Imperial Army and later became the head of a division in the Red Army during the Russian Civil War. Bozhenko V.N. was a Russian revolutionary and participant in the Civil War of 1918-1922, known for organizing Red Guard detachments. Dimensions: 160 x 120 cm. Material: Canvas, oil.
