This set includes a two-tier jubako (stacked food boxes), accompanied by four lacquered sake cups, a sake flask, an open small box, and a serving tray, all unified under a single outer box lid. Adorned with the elegant cherry blossom makie decoration against a roiro (wax) background, these pieces exemplify the refined aesthetics of the time. Maki-e is a traditional Japanese decorative technique where gold or silver powder is sprinkled onto wet lacquer to produce intricate designs. The cherry blossom represents beauty, ephemerality, and the cherished Japanese practice of flower viewing. The interior of each piece boasts a striking vermillion hue, offering a vivid contrast. Please note that the characteristic signs of aging, including wear, slight scratches and some chipping of the lacquer. The outer box lid has a warp because of aging that prevents it from closing.
