Very rare original poster from 1933 by Jean Dupas (1882-1964) for the LPTB (London Passenger Transportation Board). This is a rare version without text and on a thicker kind of paper. In 25 years of dealing in vintage posters I have never seen another copy of this version. Possibly this was sold commercially., there's a handwritten number on the back. The last picture shows the more common poster version with text. Dupas made a series of posters for the LPTB and is especially known for the decoration of the French ocean liner Normandie (for which Cassandre made the famous poster. Condition is very good with some faint foxing in the lower margin and a tiny hole in the lower left corner. The colours are slightly attenuated. Jean Dupas was one of the great masters of the Art Deco movement.
