You are bidding on a very fine and rare old 4/4 violin, labeled Ernesto Pevere allievo di Ettore Soffritti fecit in Ferrara l' anno 1944. The instrument remains in good ready to play condition with some tears and wears but no visible cracks. The scroll is grafted. The whole length of the violin is 590 mm and the back 359 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 169 mm; middle bouts: 114 mm; lower bouts: 211 mm. Materials: very nice two pieces softly flamed maple back and nice medium grained spruce top. Golden-brown varnish. New ebony set up, new bridge and new strings. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, warm and matured in its lower registers, bright and sweet in the upper registers.
