A 19thC Architectural Stone Stone Head depicting a grimacing Grotesque.
One of a series removed from Castle Carr, Luddenden Dean, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, a mock Norman / Tudor Castle built for Captain Joseph Priestly Edwards buy the Architect Thomas Risley. The piece is made from Yorkshire Buff Gritstone and has been professionally cut down from a larger Keystone.
The Castle was completed in the 1860’s before being demolished in the 1960’s, this piece was acquired directly from the Family who’s Ancestor removed them from the Castle in the 1960’s prior to its demolition.
The piece is being offered in good condition retaining good detail and showing associated age and weathering as shown.
