2010 Rocca di Frassinello, Rapture of the Grape Limited Edition - Toscana - 1 Doble Magnum/Jeroboam (3.0 L)

Size:3 l Type:Red Country:Italy Region:Toscana Denomination: Maremma Toscana DOC Grapes:60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot Aging:14 months in new barriques(80%), 11 months in bottle Alcohol content:13,5% Service temperature:18/20°C Vintage:2010 Very limited-run excellence born from the joint efforts of Castellare di Castellina and Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite together with David LaChapelle ? Rapture of the Grape, a red released to the market after many years of cellar aging to achieve proper drinkability. With an artist's label designed by the famous Canadian artist and former student of Andy Warhol, Rapture of the Grape is the result of LaChapelle's attraction to this corner of Maremma, so much so that he decided to produce a sort of capsule collection based on the 2010 vintage in a limited edition of about 2,000 bottles. Rapture of the Grape comes from the Old Vineyard and the Eucalyptus Vineyard, located about 90 meters above sea level on a medium-textured, skeleton-rich soil. Here the Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, planted at up to 5900 vines/hectare and with yields limited to 55 quintals/hectare, have over the years acquired the best offered by the local terroir while enjoying the beneficial influence of the sea breezes that blow in from the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea. In tasting Rupture of the Grape presents itself with a concentrated ruby red color with splendid garnet reflections, lively and clear; it presents itself to the nose revealing a complex, vigorous and elegant structure where clear notes of red and black fruit such as cherry, blueberry and blackberry open up to hints of underbrush, light iron notes and tertiary notes of cocoa, coffee, tobacco and leather. The mouth speaks the language of elegance, with perfectly integrated and silky tannins, an acidity still well present but balanced by the glyceric contribution and a savory note present but not preponderant, discreet and therefore refined. The sip closes with a persistence difficult to forget for its length and pleasantness. Rupture of the Grape is a wine that surprises: the long wait before the release decided by the winery certainly allowed a patient refinement that brought out all the positive traits of this wine, of crystal-clear elegance. The limited edition and in large formats, the label designed by one of the greatest contemporary artists in the world and its great drinkability make Rapture of the Grape a true masterpiece, all to be discovered and certainly to be collected, letting oneself be literally kidnapped as LaChapelle (and Rocca di Frassinello) did with the grape. Only 200 copies, signed and numbered, were produced in the double Magnum format.
