One Carafe represents in « S S » model and the second one in the “comb” or "palisade". This cut was reported in 1820 by M. Christian, director of the Museum of Arts and Crafts, during a visit to Birmingham, where he bought English glassworks to show them in Paris: the glasses were cut in "comb" and the French immediately copied this model which had great success. Saint-Louis will manufacture this service from the year 1835- 1840). The SS cut was manufactured from 1834-35 and produced by both Baccarat and Saint Louis.
