You are bidding on a very rare & old violin, labeled Carlo Antonio Testore figlio maggiore del fu Carlo Giuseppe in Contrada larga al fegno dell'Aquila Milano 1738. The instrument is in good condition with some small old repaired cracks on top, good ebony and rosewood set up and new bridge. The violin has an excellent medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of not flamed wood with matched sides and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish with some tears and wears. The whole length of the violin is 580 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 160 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 201 mm.
