A refined antique Suzuribako硯箱 (writing box) in excellent quality and craftmanship. The surface of this Suzuribako are used nashiji lacquer technique shows a thick gold dust with luxury and beauty. In addition, gold taka maki-e 高蒔絵 (high-relief lacquer design) is also widely used on the lid and interior to creates very ornate patterns with great precision and detail, capturing the beauty of rocks, pine trees, temple and ancient building on the wave in every nuance. The gold lacquer was applied with great skill, creating an effect of depth and three-dimensionality to the floral motif.
The box with a fitted tray housing an inkstone 硯 (suzuri) and a high-quality water droplet水滴 (suiteki).
