FMPM model of The Southern Crescent Limited 4-6-2 Stoomloc 1396. Very heavy model of 821 grams, exuberantly detailed, exactly like the real locomotive from 1925. Tested on a straight track: locomotive drives well. However, this model comes to its fullest in a display case. The Crescent Limited was the Southern Railway's most famous flagship. The train of this era was painted in a beautiful two-tone green. The locomotive had gold letters and upholstery, plus half moons on the cabin and piston chamber. The green Pacific-type locomotive is famous for having a full-size copy preserved at the American History Museum in the Smithsonian in Washington DC. It is the largest, heaviest object in the inner city museum.
