The project for the new stadium was entrusted to the architects Francesc Mitjans Miró, Miró-Sans' first cousin, and Josep Soteras Mauri, with the collaboration of Lorenzo García Barbón. More than a year later, on July 11, 1955, the Club awarded the work to the construction company INGAR SA, which presented a budget of 66,620,000 pesetas and an execution period of 18 months. The total cost of the work, however, far exceeded the aforementioned amount, reaching some 288 million pesetas, a figure that had to be paid in part with the successive issuance of mortgage obligations (100 million pesetas) and cash bonuses (60 million pesetas).
