SHUMEI FUJII
Born in Arita-cho in 1936, he started working at a red-painting shop and a pottery company at 15. He was selected for the Nitten in 1937 with "Cold Current", and 15 times since. He established his own nishikitsuke processing company in 1938, and Shumeigama in 1949. He has won many awards, including the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition prize and the Japan New Crafts Exhibition Japan New Crafts Award. He expresses the seasonal image of Arita with the technique of dyeing leaves. He is a member of the Saga Art Association and a friend of the Nitten exhibition.
