IMPERIAL Man's Military Watch World War Two Circa 1944

For auction is a very rare Imperial Free French Cross of Lorraine watch which has a sealed or "clam shell" case system (Schmitz Frères & Co. SA) as used in Croton Vindicators. The bezel and lugs section are fitted on top of the AS movement housed in the one piece case. This is locked in place by the four locking screws with the glass and new hand-cut waterproof seal acting as a cap. The untouched dial without crown measures approximately 30.00mms and the strap will fit a wrist to 19.5cms. These Imperials were assembled in the USA and shipped to the UK in late 1943. Around 1,500 cases were believed to have been manufactured and General de Gaulle was given 200 for distribution to senior Free French officers and French Resistance fighters after 'D'Day in 1944. This example is very rare in not having been restored though the watch has just been overhauled. Both case and dial have a beautifully original patina. Please examine the High Definition photos carefully as they form the major part of this very rare vintage WW2 watch's description. The watch will be well wrapped and shipped via Colissimo International Insured & Signed For.
