Work of art, suitable for a museum, from 1926 by Max Ernst. Original collotype to the frottage technique (for which Ernst is known). Rare work from the early days of surrealism (movement 1925-1940). Rare because virtually all collotypes from Ernst have been destroyed in the second world war (“Entartete Art”). All other collotypes are in possession of collectors and major museums such as: Würth-collection, Moma-New York, Stedelijk Museum-Amsterdam, Kunstmuseum-Bonn.. etc. Artwork is restored in 1992 by A.G. van Oort. In reasonably good condition (see photos). Small tear at the bottom of the paper (not disturbing). This is the first original collotype from 1926.
