Bronze mortar - Anno 1590 - Miette Verwint al dinck
Beautiful old bronze jacket with inscription "Miette Verwint an linck"
The word "an" is unfortunately deleted, but this inscription is known for jacks from this period.
From the 16th century jackets were provided with such a standard expression.
Also used with the lyrics "Amor vincit omnia" and the Dutch translation of it. Leverw already confers your dinck. (Love conquers all).
It is known that in the 19th century many representations were made of objects of use in styles of past centuries.
It was no different to me jacks.
What is noticeable in the 19th century is that the inscription is much clearer than this copy
Unfortunately, we can not dive the mortar with certainty, but a beautiful old and richly decorated mortar.
Style: Dutch - 16th century bronze
Dimensions: 7.4cm high, 8.4cm diameter (top edge)
Condition: In beautiful condition, pestle is missing
Dating: 18th century, or 19th century reproduction
