Curule chair with richly decorated wood carving

On offer without a reserve price! The design of this chair goes far back in time. The first known chairs with the distinctive cross shape date back to the Egyptian era, when graves were found containing this type of curule chairs. The curule chair was the name of an honour seat used by the highest officials in ancient Rome. After Roman times the curule chair was one of the collecting names for derived later chair forms such as Dante chair, Petrarca chair, Savonarola Chair and the now much used Curule Chair. Dimensions: Backrest height 76 cm. Width 63 cm Height of the backrest: 63 cm. Seat height: 37-38 cm. Depth of the seat: 40 cm. Depth chair: 55 cm. Condition: Goed. Cleaned and treated both the leather and the wood. Few wear spots in the leather. The leather is very thick, however. As well as the wood. Signs of wear on the wood especially on the legs but also a bit on the armrests. The wood is bare (no paint) to the back of the backrest. As for the construction still in very good condition. This chair can last for hundreds of years. See all 30 photos in order to get a full impression. This lot can be shipped in the EU for a competitive rate. Outside the EU the shipping costs will be higher.  Pickup is possible, depending on your preference, in Zeist, the Netherlands (two days a week) or in The Hague on other days.  I can deliver it within the Randstad, including the entire province of Utrecht, up to the border of the environmental zones of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Utrecht for 30 euro plus 35 cents per kilometre travelled back and forth. Distance is measured (depending on what is shorter) from Zeist or the Hague.  On the route The Hague-Zeist (A12) you pay the minimum rate of €30, plus the extra km from the A12 and back to the A12.
