Rare mid-century, vintage, glass-fronted, brass ship’s "Stormglas" from Denmark, marked Castle Design and Lunde Design. A storm glass consists of a brass house with a sealed glass tube containing fluid with chemicals that crystalize in various shapes in reaction to atmospheric conditions, believed to predict weather in the coming days (see online and stock photo #5). It*s in good working order. The hinged arm has screw-holes for hanging on a vertical surface. The brass housing is in good condition, with some patina as expected after a life at sea (all photos apart from #5 are of the item for sale). There is one slightly larger spot of superficial tarnish (see final photo), but this charming item has many further years of use in store, on board a ship, at home or in the office.
