In good working condition, a highly unique, large 'City Hall' wall clock by the Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen produced by the manufacturer Georg Christensen. This wall clock was designed (in various sizes) in 1956 for the SAS Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. See the last series of photos of the SAS Hotel. Literature: Arne Jacobsen, by Carsten Thau & Kjeld Vindum, page 530. The movement is a Junghans W738 quartz (Euroshaft movement). Measurements: diameter 44 cm x depth 5.5 cm. Background information: Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was a Danish architect and designer. Jacobsen joined the architectural firm of Paul Holsoe after receiving his degree in architecture in Copenhagen in 1927. In 1930 he founded his own firm. Jacobsen was professor of architecture at the Royal Danish Art Academy. His most famous designs were for St. Catherine's College in Oxford and the SAS Hotel in Copenhagen. Condition in accordance with its age and use, only some light stains and small scratches. Please have a good look at the photos for a correct impression of the offered lot.
