Longines Wadsworth - Classic 18k 80 Micron Cal 22as - 6058 - Uomo - 1950-1959

I am selling an unusual Longines men's wristwatch with rose gold-plated casing. The rose gold-plated casing is in good condition and has a few signs of use with small stains as can be seen on the photos. The horned brackets on this casing are very unusual forming a fantastic piece of design from the 50s. The inside of the back is inscribed Longines, Plaque Or L 80 Microns, Wadsworth and carries the reference number 6058 and interestingly a Wadsworth signature usually indicates that the watch was sold in the USA under license to avoid import tax. This piece, however, is signed by Longines and Swiss, not by Longine-Wittnauer USA, and the watch was originally sold in Italy, which was confirmed by the Longine Museum, who said: "Originally the serial number identified.... a wristwatch in 80 micrometre rose gold with reference 6058. (35 mm without crown). It has a mechanical Longines automatic movement, calibre 22AS, and was invoiced on 31 January 1953 by the company Ostersetzer, which was our representative in Italy at the time." The heavy gold plating is in excellent condition and has no signs of wear or chipping. The dial is in a beautiful vintage condition and does not have a thick patina. The dial is apparently original from the period, as are the typefaces, the glass, the crocodile strap and the buckle (22.5 cm with the casing).
