For sale is an original Austro-Hungarian Silver Bravery Medal, 1st Class (Tapferkeitsmedaille 1 Klass). This medal carried the portrait of Kaiser Karl I which dates it from April 1917 and “FORTITVDINI” (Bravery) to the rear. It is marked on the rim "BRONZE" to denote that it was made by the Vienna Hauptmunzamt (Imperial Vienna Mint) and issued by the War Ministry. Only 143,000 1st Class medals were awarded during Karl’s reign. This is a really lovely example in beautiful condition with a lovely patina commensurate with its age. The condition is almost mint and the trifold ribbon is original. This is a very well presented and totally original Silver Medal for Bravery.
