Carlos Mata (1949-2008), is, before anything, a sincere artist with a personal language and a work inspired by Mediterranean culture. His sculptures, from a formal point of view, are figurative, but separate themselves from naturalism, or realism in such a way that his work is better said to be iconic, responding to the idea of essentiality. In his iconography, the horse and bull figure stand apart for having given him fame on the international market seeing as he has been a pioneer in this type of work. All this converts him into a generous artist who leaves a part of himself in each of his pieces.
