Set of 4 Cesca model chairs. Design: Marcel Breuer Produced by the prestigious Gavina company of San Lazzaro di Savena (Italy) during the late 1960s. An epochal chair destined to remain in the history of contemporary design, with a great personality, it is a timeless object. There are Gavina adhesive labels under the seat of the 4 chairs. The chairs have been cleaned and the Vienna straw has been completely replaced. CONDITION: The chairs are solid and sturdy in good condition with slight signs of use as clearly indicated in the photos in some parts of the chromed tubing. In 1968 in New York, Dino Gavina convinced Marcel Breuer to put his designs into production, including the Cesca chair, designed by Breuer in 1928. The commercial success of this chair was so important that the market was flooded with many reproductions. The Gavina company, whose president was one of the most famous architects in Italy: Carlo Scarpa, was subsequently purchased by Knoll which continues to produce many of Breuer's designs to this day.
