The outer surface of this Suzuribako shows a fine black-lacquered lid decorated with gold maki-e patterns for vivid flower and grass. This pattern was created with great precision and detail, capturing the beauty of flowers in every nuance. The gold lacquer was applied with great skill, creating an effect of depth and three-dimensionality to the floral motif.
The interior of the Suzuribako and the bottom are coated with nashiji lacquer, a traditional Japanese finish that creates a thick gold dust effect over the entire surface. This finish offers a charming contrast to the glossy black exterior.
