【Product details】
This exquisite set by the esteemed Kawasaki Waraku. The collection comprises a candlestick featuring a unique spiral column and gold-tipped rim, an incense burner adorned with a gold lattice dome and angular handles, and a flower vase accented with gold bands. Each piece showcases the rich green glazing technique enhanced with gold embellishments, and the distinctive seal of Waraku is prominently stamped on each item, attesting to its authenticity.
Kawasaki Waraku is the esteemed seventh-generation potter of the Raku-Ware tradition. The lineage traces back to the Bunsei era, with its founder, Tanzaku-Ya Shichizaemon, operating a teahouse in front of the Yasaka Shrine in Gion. From the second generation, the family has dedicated themselves exclusively to Raku-Ware, receiving accolades including offerings to the Imperial Court. In the 7th year of the Taisho era, Marshal Togo Heihachiro visited their workshop, bestowing upon them the title Waraku. Since then, under the name Waraku, they have continually crafted Raku-Ware suitable for the tea ceremony.
This particular set was crafted using a technique that features a green glaze and is decorated with gold leaf or gold dust. The set perfectly marries traditional forms and colors with a modern twist, rendering it a beautiful and radiant impression.
