A fine pair of Imari “Blackship” plates painted in vivid iron-red, gilt, green and black enamels on underglaze blue with a central cartouche depicting enclosing Dutch three-master at sea, surrounded by a large border with two smaller panels enclosing a similar ship and two faux coats-of-arms, divided by pairs of standing Dutchmen, on a trellis diaper-pattern ground The reverse decorated in underglaze blue with foliage Dates to ca. 1900 (Meiji period 1868-1912) Reference: A bowl with a very similar decor sold at Christie’s for €3.346 ( See the last picture) Condition - Both plates are in a very good condition without damages or repairs Minuscule signs of wear and some firing flaws Please see the photos This lot will be carefully packed and sent by registered and insured mail
