Biography
Kano Yōsen-in (Korenobu) (1753-1808)
Horeki 3 (1753) - Bunka 5 (1808)
A painter of the seventh generation of the Kano school of painters of the Kobikicho family in the Edo period.
His stage names were Yōsen (Hogen era), Yōsen-in (Houin era), Gennosai, and Kankan.
He was the eldest son of Kano Eisen Michinobu.
He followed in his father's footsteps and rose quickly through the ranks.
In 1764, at the age of 12, he was appointed as a shogun's official in the inner court.
He was favored by Ieharu Tokugawa, the 10th Shogun, and Okitsugu Tanuma, the chief retainer of the shogunate.
In 1781, at the age of 29, he was appointed Hogen.
In 1790, he succeeded to the Kano family in Kobikicho, following in the footsteps of his father.
In 1794, at the age of 42, he became a Hoin.
He worked on many paintings related to the Edo Castle and the Kyoto Imperial Palace.
He died in 1808 at the age of 56.
