Ian Carr With Nucleus - Solar Plexus / The Legend In Near Mint Condition - LP - 1971

Ian Carr With Nucleus Nucleus Biography Formed 1969 in London, England - dissolved 1989 If SOFT MACHINE was a rock group turned jazz rock, NUCLEUS can be considered a jazz group turned jazz rock, since most of the musicians were clearly jazz musicians, with the exception of Chris Spedding (yes, Mr. Motocycle-Punk/ Chameleon -Man of the Rock). If a comparison of these two groups can be made, it's also obvious that NUCLEUS became a breeding ground for these musicians before they joined SOFT MACHINE (about ten musicians made the transfer). They were signed to the famous progressive Vertigo label and the first two album sleeves were designed by Roger Dean with superb artwork. NUCLEUS was the project of Ian Carr's trumpeter (and jazz die-hard biographer) and his discography is quite confusing with the various labels as some say "Ian Carr's Nucleus", "Nucleus With Ian Carr" or simply "Ian Carr" (but play with all NUCLEUS members). This hardly means that he was the main author, the main influence, or the main soloist. Plenty of material was contributed by many outstanding musicians including Karl Jenkins, Jeff Clyne, Chris Spedding, Alan Holdsworth, Brian Smith & Dave MacRae. Their music was frenetic instrumental jazz-rock, similar to Miles Davis' jazz-rock of the same era. Loads of wind instruments, but KB and plenty of room for the guitarist (Spedding's guitar is grand and grandiose while being understated). The groundbreaking essence of NUCLEUS is clearly heard best on the early albums, as the later albums only managed to repeat the formula without evolving much. NUCLEUS is warmly recommended not only to the later SOFT MACHINE, but to all jazz rock/fusion fans and also Canterbury Prog fans. :::: Bio written by Hugues Chantraine, Belgium :::: Nucleus Pioneering jazz-rock, progressive, psychedelic, funk & pop band from Britain, A British jazz-fusion band, which continued in different forms from 1969 to 1989.
