This exquisite lidded container is a masterful example of Kaga Makie artistry, originating from the flamboyant and grandiose art of the Momoyama period. Created by the esteemed Ikeda Kiichi, a disciple of the traditional Kaga Makie master Inami Kirokusai, this piece is a testament to centuries of refined craftsmanship nurtured under the Kaga domain's patronage.

The container features a lavish peony design, a symbol of prosperity, nobility, and honor in Japanese culture.
