Ergani Athena - Scultura, Hygeia ( Hygieia - Hygia ) goddess of health - 24 cm - Gesso, Marmo
Sculpture, head of the goddess of health Hygeia, plaster on marble base, Greece, Ergani Athena Manufacture (original labels), the second half of the 20th century.
In Greek and Roman mythology, Hygieia was the daughter of the god of medicine, Asclepius and Epione.
She was the goddess/personification of health (Greek: ὑγίεια - hugieia), cleanliness and sanitation. Hygieia also played an important part in her father's cult. While her father was more directly associated with healing, she was associated with preventing sickness and maintaining good health.
The manufacturing company Ergani Athena Chorianopoulos SA, a producer of Hellenic art objects, was founded in 1982 and has since been making museum copies replicas and artistic reproductions of ancient Hellenic artifacts.
