The "Married Woman Eros" series, known as Nobuyoshi Araki's life's work, began in 1998 as a serial project in the magazine Shukan Shukyu (Futaba-sha), in which Araki photographed the nude images of married women who had applied for the magazine. In the 15 years since the serialization began, hundreds of color photographs of married women taken by Araki have been published in photo books and other publications. Araki says, "They (the wives) themselves are art." Through the act of "photographing and being photographed," his works bring out the expressions that the wives never show to their husbands and their charm as a woman, inviting the viewer into the world of married women and questioning the meaning of life as a woman. The film invites viewers into the world of married women and also questions what it means to live as a woman.
