Vaso - Porcellana, Vaso in ceramica Kotou dipinto di rosso e decorato in oro - Giappone

This is a red and gold-painted Kotou ware vase. Although this vase is over 100 years old, it is in good condition. Kotou ware vases are now extremely rare, and this is the first time I've seen one in such good condition. Additionally, the delicately painted bird and flower motif in red and gold is very intricate and beautifully preserved. This delicate bird and flower motif is hand-painted. The vase has ears on both sides, finished in gold. Its shape is very unique. Furthermore, the intricate patterns around the mouth and the base accentuate the luxury of this vase. Personally, Kotou ware in this condition is truly rare, so I hope antique Japanese vase enthusiasts will pay attention to it. Kotou 湖東焼 ware is a type of pottery and porcelain produced in Hikone Domain, which was located on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa, in the late Edo period of Japan. Kotou ware pieces are often decorated with celadon, red and gold overglaze enamels, underglaze blue, and polychrome enamels. It began production in the domain in 1829 (Bunsei 12) and was officially commissioned by the domain in 1842 (Tenpo 13). Kotou ware flourished under the encouragement and protection of the Ii family, the daimyo of Hikone Domain. However, with the assassination of Ii Naosuke, who promoted and protected the industry, during his tenure as Tairō (chief elder) of the Tokugawa shogunate (known as the Sakuradamon incident), many craftsmen scattered, leading to a rapid decline, and production ceased during the Meiji period (1868 to 1912). Width 24.0 cm Depth 16.0 cm Height 32.1 cm Weight 2110 kg Condition: The condition is good. There are no cracks or chips. There are signs of aging such as stains, scratches, scuffs, tears, discoloration, fading, fraying, and changes in thread color.
