Buster Brown - 20 Offset Print - Various artists - The New York Herald Comics section - 1908
Rare surviving pages cut out from The New York Herald Sunday Comics section containing episodes of Buster Brown. This bundle contains 20 full pages, size 56x41, published between June 28, 1908 and November 8, 1908.
The pages are in good condition, wrinkles, tears, flaking and missing pieces may occur, look at the photos for details.
Each page has comics printed recto/verso.
On the verso side, there are usually 2 comics: Waggles in Wonderland by Coultaus and Monkey Shines of Marseleen by Norman E Jennett.
Buster Brown was created in 1902 by Richard F. Outcault.
The comic strip began in the New York Herald on May 4, 1902. Outcault left for William Randolph Hearst's employ in January 1906, and after a court battle, Outcault continued his strip, now nameless, in Hearst papers, while the Herald continued their own version of Buster Brown with other artists. The latter lasted until January 1911, and Outcault's version until May 13, 1923.
