＜About Zero Fighter Type 32>
The Zero fighter continued to be the mainstay of the Imperial Japanese Navy throughout the Pacific War.
The Type 32, which followed the Type 21, was equipped with the Sakae 21 engine with improved power output.
The maximum speed was increased by about 10 km/h compared to the Type 21, and the wing span was trimmed down to 11 m and the wing tips were shaped into a rectangle.
The Type 32 was the only Zero fighter with a wing with a rectangular wing at the other end, and while other types were code-named ZEKE by the Allied Forces, only the Type 32 was named HAMP.
Mass production of the Zero-sen Type 32 began in April 1942, and 343 were produced.
