Historic context: The Duke of Bouillon was the Grand Master of Freemasonry of the Duchy of Bouillon. The architecture of this Courthouse is typically that of a Masonic temple. The Masonic inspiration of this token was confirmed by D. Hollard and Ch. Charlet in the Bulletin de la Societé Française de Numismatique (71e année, n°2) of February 2016 (a scan of the article in French will be included).
