A rare ancient old Babylonian terracotta plaque depicting the nude female goddess Ishtar, standing with her hands clasped across her abdomen. She wears a necklace. Together with its mould in negative. It includes methacrylate support. Cataloging sticker on the back. Moulds like this were made to produce clay plaques, representing a form of art available to a wide audience. Their subject matter varies widely, including religious images, mythological and erotic scenes, and representations of rulers and gods |Babylonian - 2000-1700 B.C Ishtar was the most important female deity in ancient Mesopotamia. She was seen as a violent and lustful goddess and her realms included both war and sexual love. Dimensions: 11,50 x 5,00 each. Condition: Small nicks on top of the plaque. Some earthy adhessions and surface wear ( see pictures ). Fine condition. Provenance: Ex M. V. Private Collection - Madrid, Spain since 1970's. According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union are subject to export taxes and will be added to the invoice, at the buyer's expense. These export fees are fixed on the final auction price and the tax rate is not applied directly on the total value of the item to be exported, but rather the different percentages by sections are applied to it: - Up to 6,000 euros: 5%./ From 6.001 to 60.000 euros: 10 %. - Shipped with Insurance.
